5 Warning Signs That Your Interview Skills Suck

There are many things that can go wrong in a job interview. No matter how hard you try, some things just have a way of going awry. To help you determine whether you're an ace interviewee or can benefit from a brush-up, here are the top 5 warning signs that your interview skills suck:

1. You have not made an impression on the interviewer.

Shirts Butterflies

You are scrutinized and evaluated from the moment you step inside the interview room. The way you carry yourself and the way you dress for the occasion help make the first impression on the employer, and will certainly affect the outcome of the meeting. If you think that a pair of jeans and a polo shirt passes as semi-formal business attire, think again. Arriving late and keeping the interviewer waiting are also bad signs, because those actions will be interpreted as a lack of interest on your part. Moreover, the employer may believe that they reflect your character traits, and judge you to be an unorganized and undependable person. Instead, you should carry yourself confidently and dress to impress. Give the interviewer a firm handshake to let him know that you mean business.

2. You can't match the communication style of the interviewer.

You don't have to be an expert conversationalist or social butterfly to get on the interview's good side; just match the communication style of the interviewer. If the interviewer is all business, then avoid making funny remarks or jokes. However, if he is more informal, then you can also be more relaxed in the way you address him. Beware that although the tone is friendlier, you still need to display respect to the interviewer. But no matter what the employer's communication style, getting tongue tied, stuttering, etc. are to be avoided. Don't be nervous, just be yourself!

3. You talk constantly about yourself.

This is one warning sign not to be taken lightly. Talking excessively about yourself while veering off from the main discussion of the position or company is a big turnoff for interviewers. Listening is an integral part of this scenario. To be an effective interviewee, you should keep your answers simple, concise, and detailed but to-the-point. Check yourself from time to time to ensure that you don't get too comfortable. After all, it is a professional meeting.

4. You keep interrupting the interviewer.

Even if you feel like you already understand the question and can answer well or if you already have clarification questions, it's not smart to butt in before the interviewer is finished speaking. This just depicts you as an impolite person. Let the interviewer finish the question before you answer. Be professional. Asking clarification questions after the interview is finished speaking not only demonstrates better manners, it solidifies your interest in the position.

5. You go in for the interview unprepared.

This is a problem that cannot be fixed once the interview starts. Research the company and the position, and your compatibility with them, beforehand and familiarize youself with the essential information so you won't be left guessing when the employer asks you a question. You should also anticipate some questions that will be asked during the interview and prepare specific answers for those. If, during your research or the interview process, you come across any questions for the employer, you should make a note of those as well and ask them at the end of the interview.

It's normal to feel nervous and have butterflies in your stomach when interviewing for your dream job. But you shouldn't let nervousness get the best of you and potentially ruin your chances of getting hired. Be prepared and try your best. And, whether or not your interview turns out well, don't forget to end the meeting graciously and follow up with a thank-you note to the employer.

The Pre-Match Rituals of a Football Fan

Football fans can be odd creatures. I'm a football fan and although I think I'm perfectly normal, my missus would tell you otherwise! I have been obsessed with the game since I was a little boy, and although the game has changed in many ways over the last couple of decades, I will always be hooked.

There's something quite special about match days especially. As a nipper, I remember waking up at the crack of dawn in a state of excitement - I used to drive my Dad mad! I would have laid out my football clothing the night before, so I wouldn't have to rush about in the morning. Every time I pulled on my shirt, put on my hat and wrapped my scarf around my neck, I would get this immense sense of pride for my team - sad I know! I would then head downstairs for breakfast- usually boiled eggs, soldiers and a bacon butty - and then we would hit the road.

Shirts Butterflies

The car journey to the train station would normally involve a game of eye spy or me quizzing my Dad on the 'good old days' as he would call it, which to you and I means when football was played in black and white. I would also drive him round the bend by asking him about football clothing in those days and he would always reply 'only the posh kids had the replica jerseys, I had a red and white scarf knitted for me by Nanny Edith'.

I always knew he wasn't telling me the whole truth as I have seen photos of him wearing a silky flat hat lined with pin badges, but for some strange reason he would never actually tell me about that. He's a funny man my dad!

I used to love arriving at the train station and spotting fans of rival teams. And then when arriving at the ground, walking down from the station, that buzz of anticipation as you stepped out was, and still is amazing.

Then you would set eyes on the hordes of fans, some in football clothing, others in casual get up - a sea of red and white roaming through the streets. I would always have to buy my match day programme from the same programme seller. He was an old boy with bright silver hair and he used to reek of tobacco.

Dad would insist on going for a quick pint before we went in the stadium, and he would always order a pint of London Pride and a packet of dry roasted peanuts. I would have a lemonade until I got a bit older, when the old man would treat me to a pint of lager, whispering the immortal words: 'don't tell your mother!'

On entering the ground I would always have butterflies in my stomach, although I've since grown out of this. I would click through the turnstiles and then rush to get to my spot on the terrace in time to watch the players warm up.

Once on the terrace, that was it. I remember the first couple of games I went to I would just stand there in awe just taking in the atmosphere, the colours, the smells. Then the game would kick off and we would get battered, and on the journey home you would wish you supported a decent team. And then the following week you'd do it all again. We're not that odd are we?

Adult Tinkerbell Costume - Fairy Fun For Everyone

People love dressing up as fairies for Halloween and other costume parties, including adults. And one of the most fun of all is the adult Tinkerbell costume. The Fairy is human yet magical, small yet powerful, innocent yet sexy, and good-natured yet mischievous - and sometimes even ill-tempered. Fairies symbolize simplicity and freedom, nature and magic. Wearing a fairy costumes allows people to be cheerful, sexy, and mischievous, which is a wonderfully fun combination at parties. It should come as no surprise then, that fairy costumes are among the most popular purchased for Halloween.

The most famous and well-known fairy is, of course, Tinkerbell from the books and movies of Peter Pan. Disney's version of Tinkerbell in their animated Peter Pan movie set the standard for Tinkerbell's appearance as a short, long-haired blond in a green leafy dress. There have been other versions of Tinkerbell in the media, however. In Hook, the live-action sequel to Peter Pan, Tinkerbell was played by the tall, short-haired redhead Julia Roberts, and wore a costume of shirt and shorts of light brown leather. The point is that anyone today, regardless of height, weight, hair or skin color, can be unmistakably recognized wearing adult Tinkerbell costumes.

Shirts Butterflies

These two movie costumes can also be used to represent the two aspects of Tinkerbell. The sweet, sexy, and helpful Disney Tinkerbell wears the green dress, while the energetic, mischievous, and at times jealous Julia Roberts Tinkerbell wears the brown shirt and shorts.

If you want to dress in a mischievous, jealous adult Tinkerbell costume, then choose a costume comprising of dark colors and matte fabrics. The different shades of brown from the Hook Tinkerbell costume is a good start, but feel free to experiment with shade of dark green, blue, purple, red, or even black. Use fabrics that absorb light rather than reflect it, such as velvet or suede. Use dark makeup colors, add dark colored or stripped tights, and ware boots. When choosing wings, go for the colored, butterfly-shaped wings, rather than the traditional pale dragonfly winds. Be sure to play lots of pranks on people at the party.

If you choose to pursue a sweet and helpful adult Tinkerbell costume, use the Disney-style green "leafy" dress as your starting point. You can use any shade of green from the light chartreuse and lime colors, to darker shades of emerald and forest green. Feel free to mix shade of green. Choose fabrics that are shiny, like silk, satin, or polyester, and trim the dress with glitter, sequins, or rhinestones for a sparkly, glittery effect. For footwear, you can go barefoot, or try white or green ballet slippers. Finally, complete the costume with traditional white or iridescent dragonfly wings.

If you want to try the sexy Tinkerbell costumes for adults, start with the sweet and helpful Disney adult Tinkerbell costume and tweak it in just the right places. Instead of a full, knee-length skirt with scalloped edges, aim for a figure-hugging mid-thigh length skirt comprised of separate, overlapping green "leaf" pieces that will occasional separate to flash your legs as you walk. Choose a sleeveless (or maybe even strapless) bodice with a low neckline. Finish the costume with white, silver, or green high heels.

Tinkerbell was known for her famous pixie dust that allowed anyone sprinkled with it to fly. Therefore, pixie dust is a requirement for any adult Tinkerbell costume. A small bag filled with glitter works wonderfully. Alternately, for people worries about making a mess or running out of pixie dust, a wand with gold or silver metallic streamers attached to the end, works just as well. Both glitter and metallic streamers can be bought from any party supply store.
